August 19-20

At last we seem to have got a couple of good days,,, after the scorching July temperatures, August has been a disappointment,

Saturday 19th August, Mike and myself headed off through Ballycastle, then on round the coast road into Portrush,

There were not many folks about on motorcycles, but I suppose it is still the holiday season.

Portstewart was next on the agenda... and there were a few more bikes there... even a couple of ZX10 R's  (getting as common as muck!)

after a bit of lunch it was back roads all the way  to Carrickfergus.

The weather was quite good compared to what it had been a few days previously, the only sign of rain we saw was wet roads between Cloughy and Clough..

Sunday 20th. August.

Gavin and myself, met at Mikes , then headed off to the Mallusk roundabout (Sandy Knowles) where we met up with Trevor..   Next stop was in Beleek,

where I realized my rear tyre was shredded, and the wires showing most of the way round. Stopping only just long enough for a tank of petrol and a chocolate bar,

we headed back into Omagh and MacDonald's.....  Big Macs and Macflurries   all round.

      Before                                                                                                                    After

To try to minimise my tyre wear, we kept the pace down a little, and took the more twisty route home. all in all covering over 300 miles.......  Needless to say I did make it home safely, the tyre was a total mess, and now the R1 is sporting a nicely scrubbed in set of Racetecs....

Roll on next weekend....
