Malin Head ,or where to go to test your shock absorbers!

This is the first addition to the website in quite a while, Its not that we haven't been out and about every week, just that I have been too lazy to put anything together....We have had some great ride outs over the past few weeks. The weather has been very good too, so its been off with the leathers and on with the jeans,,,

Then , just as you get hit on the kneecap with a stone kicked up by the bike in front , you remember why its always better to wear your leathers!

Oh yes! Malin Head, you've heard of the rocky road to Dublin?... well we can tell you it has nothing on some of  the roads up around Malin Head.. ( my garden path would put some of them to shame..)

We left Larne at about 1:00 pm usual route headed up over the mountain to Ballymena , it was just the three of us today, Michael Trevor and myself..

The other members of our merry band having opted to attend a charity ride-out on behalf of the Animal sanctuary!

Then all of a sudden  ..... we had arrived at Magilligan to take the Foyle ferry over into Greencastle........ doesn't the time fly when you are enjoying yourself!

Having landed safely in Donegal it was then time (as in all 49-er ride outs) to get a bite of lunch. Moville is only up the road a bit and has a great little restaurant, that does great food at very reasonable prices.

Having been fed and watered and ice-creamed it was back into the saddle and off up to Malin Head...................ANTI-CLIMAX....may be too strong a word for it, apart from the twisty bumpy badly tarmac-ed roads it really didn't have much going for it..... If you seek solitude and like rocks or just like a pretty view of the sea  and more rocks... then Malin Head is the place to be...... we must have stayed for all of five minutes!

Places  on the  not to visit again list ....

1.   Malin Head

           2. as yet to be decided!

If nothing else the crack was good and the roads improved the faster you rode,.

We got back to the Greencastle ferry terminal at about 7:00pm

Trevor eyes up an interesting paint scheme

Looking back towards Greencastle

We got Michael to climb up the mast for this last shot

The ride home was brisk to say the least, maybe even a little "spirited " at times, but I arrived home shortly after 8:00 pm having covered almost 250 miles.

The Bandit was stuck unceremoniously in the garage, the fly removal will have to wait until another time...

Roll on next week end!
